Temple of NOD

This is my first "real" mod. I built it as a project at my last year in school. It also gave me my 15 seconds of fame in the modding scene.

The original design is from the epic real-time strategy game Command & Conquer from 1993. It was one of the very first games I played, and I still love it and play it from time to time.

The case is built with brushed aluminium and acrylic glass. I started with models in paper, to somewhat get a hang of the sizes of the various parts that I needed to craft. A full build from scratch as this one is quite hard since you need to get all the dimensions for mounting all the hardware exactly right, and that's easier said than done. The good thing about it is that you have 100% flexibility - no crap in the box that don't really have any usefull functions. I think I spent about 200 hours on making this case, from planning to final assembly.

The case turned out looking good, but is a bit to clumsy for LAN-partys. It's size is about 55x40x60cm (w/h/d).
It was my primary gaming rigg from 2005 until it got retired in favor of a C2D mATX system, which is perfect for bringing to LAN-partys.

The hardware has been the same all the time. I was on a tight budget at the time, so it was a bit old already when I started the build.
