Beyond The Grave

My last project started for real the autumn 2006, and was completed 2007-06-18

Main objective of this case is to act a a fileserver, and it also needs to be relatively quiet. My old Chieftec Scorpio (Superbitch) is quite full, and needs a replacement that looks cool, and that isn't as noisy. The case will be able to house 12 HDDs, and a lot of slow-spinning 120mm fans to try to keep the noise at a minimum. The name and some/most/all art are from the anime series GunGrave. It's a good series, and it's theme fits in nicely into my color scheme. Now that I'm done with the project, I can happily admit that it succeeded and surpassed my expectations. It's a lot quiter than my old case, and it also weights 10Kg less.

The case is about 52cm deep, 34cm wide, and 38cm high.

Build time: ~250hrs +planning
Cash spent: I didn't keep track ;)
Weight: 20Kg with current system. Max weight fully fitted with 11HDDs will be 22Kg.
Noise Level: I measured 38db 30cm from the case, with an ambience of ~30db.
Cooling: 4xPapst 120mm@5V, 2xPapst120mm@7V, Zalman VF900, SLK947U with Papst92mm@8V

Hardware: I know it's old stuff, but for what it's supposed to do, it works well.
